This project was carried out largely during night shifts, over a period of several months. We built a new main switchroom and extended the existing generator room, both in the basement car park, in order to install the new switchgear, generators and cabling before migrating each supply from the old switchgear to the new.

Supply and Installation of LV Switchgear and Generator Control System
This project involved synchronising three 1100kVA generator sets to six mains supplies to support the hospital load in the event of a mains failure, and to allow STOR operation to export power back to the grid. An added advantage of a synchronising system is to allow the return from generator supply to mains, when the mains supply is restored, seamless.

Installation of 3x500kVA generator sets and their associated switchgear, including the power and control cabling, air conditioning supplies, fire suppression system, lighting and power. The generators were installed into containers, along with the switchgear at the generator supplier’s premises, we then flew to Baghdad to carry out the testing and commissioning on site.
The entire system was designed to operate at an ambient temperature of 55°C.

For this project, we designed, supplied and installed a redundant starting system for the datacentre’s new backup generator and supplied and installed the generator switchgear, complete with a load bank connection point for load testing of the generator. We also designed, supplied, installed and commissioned the generator control system.
